Dramatic Play

The NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young People) describes in this article, many ways to promote literacy development. Many of the strategies recommended in this article are also topics the textbook has covered. This article is a good reference for teachers because it has the strategies listed and simplified. This article can be used as a reminder of the strategies we have discussed in class and read about in the text book.
There is a section, beginning on page 6, about how dramatic play can be used to promote literacy. In this section there is an example of students engaging in dramatic play and exhibiting one of the stages of writing we discussed and examined in class.
