The youtube video (above) that I found is one created by sixth grade students who are preparing to take the "CMT", comparable to ISTEP+, just in Connecticut. They compare their preparations to that of "The Hunger Games." As silly as this sounds, it actually is accurate. Only the strongest students are able move forward. If a lawmaker saw this video and saw how it is affecting our students, I think they would be really ashamed of everything they're doing. These students speak in testing terms like it's part of their every day vocabulary. This basically is just proving that teachers are talking about these tests so often that the students have it drilled into their minds! Instead of preparing our students to pass tests shouldn't we prepare them with a proper education to go into the world and become a dutiful citizen? I could go on and on about standardized testing and how wrong it is, but that's basically what we've all been doing. Take a look at this youtube video and you will see sixth graders making a controversial topic a little humorous, but the underlying message is still strong.

This video is AMAZING! It had me laughing all the way through! I'm pretty sure it is up for an academy award (not really). I would totally do something along the lines of this with my students. I believe teachers should find every way they can to make the preparing process as fun as possible.
